Ritalin LA and no sleep

I have a 7 year old in 16 days that is on Ritalin LA 10mg once a day. Now the doctor told me it would wear off in 8 - 12 hours. The poor girl stares at the ceiling until 10 or 10:30. I give it to her as early as possible with out interupting her sleep. Will it eventually get better or is this a major issue with Ritalin LA and other stimulants?

Seems to me this doctor doesn't know too much about Ritalin. The effect in adults wears of in 3 to 4 hours. When I'm too late taking my dose my system goes into rebound which means I become very irritable, emotional, speedy and sleepless. I may be not the biggest expert in the field, being on Ritalin for my third day, but I can imagine what your little girl is going through. It's really awful! Hope some parents with experience can help you with this. I feel so sorry for her!
