Easy pain relief
I was just cruising this site looking for advise for aunt who has Fibromyalgia and thought I would pass along one of her tips as a way to give back. She has had fibromyalgia symptoms for many years now and recently someone told her to try taking a bath in epsom salt. She found that taking epsom salt baths really helped reduce her muscle aches and stress. Then a few days ago we were in Walgreens and found an awesome new brand of epsom salt in the first aid aisle called Pepsom Sports. She decided to try it because it was spearmint scented and found that she really liked the way it made her feel especially because the spearmint scent was very relaxing. Just thought I would pass along this information for anyone struggling with this horrible disease. Good luck to all!

Re: Easy pain relief
For relaxation or after a long work day, I like taking Epsom Salts + Baking Soda + grated Ginger baths.. feels like heaven after one of these baths.

Re: Easy pain relief
I've been taking epsom salt baths for the past few weeks and I love it. It really does relax the muscles so nicely. Sometimes I treat myself to a bath after I work out.
I mix mine with sea salts and whatever essential oils I want to throw in. I like peppermint the best so far. The salts are supposed to help with detox. I've been reading about them for the past two years. I've listened to parents say how much they help their children calm down. Also that they help with food behavior reactions. I used them with my son, but I made the mistake of giving him a full cup instead of easing the amount up over time. I'm not sure if it was the epsom salts or another treatment, but he couldn't fall asleep for a couple hours at bedtime even though he was exhausted. This lasted an entire week. I just gave him a bath yesterday, but only gave him 1/4 of a cup. Thank you both for sharing that. I wonder if the spearmint is a natural smell or artificial ingredient. And I like the ginger idea. I love ginger. BTW I do the baking soda too, it really softens the water. You just reminded me I forgot to pick up more when I was at the store today (lol). d-ribose is a supplement that has really helped me with muscle soreness. It has almost fixed a shoulder pain I've had daily for about 6 years. In case anyone is interested. It can help with fatigue as well, but I didn't notice a difference in that area.

Re: Easy pain relief
LOL....I'm thinking you may be correct. My ex has had severe Fibromyalgia and I did more research than any of our doctors. However, I never once considered an ADD site as the place to look for Fibro advice...lol.
With that being said, instead of paying through the nose for "Pepsom Sports", let's just buy the generic epsom salts for a fraction of the cost and just add a drop of spearmint or peppermint oil to the bath. Could save Auntie a ton of money.....because when taking a bath, you shouldn't have to "take a bath". ![]()

Re: Easy pain relief
It's under $4 at Walgreens.
I like the idea of adding the scented oil instead to the regular epsom salts, that way you know you're getting an all natural bath and not extra chemicals you don't want your skin absorbing. I have no idea what's in the stuff.

Hello Sunshine,
My brother was having an Fibromyalgia, but he's actually doing fine now.Have you heard about phoneConsultation.Com,he relies on this. It's online consultation obviously, but aside from that you can visit them. The doctors are very much accommodating. They will also give a script together with 2 refill when you have to consult to them. |

Re: Easy pain relief
This is interesting. I had not heard of using espom salt baths for the ease of fibromyalgia pain, and will have to suggest this to my daughter. She developed FM about six years ago following a severe car crash and sometimes is very achey and sore all over.
I developed FM myself almost 40 years ago and have gone through flare ups and remissions. I thought I had been in remission for a couple of years because I haven't been feeling that achey and sore feeling, but reading an article published by Mayo Clinic recently I realized that the chronic headache and irritable bladder I've been having for over a year now are probably symptoms of the FM. I've been blaming Migraine Disorder because my dad had it and it's very genetic, and some of my headaches are undoubtedly Migraines but it's possible that many of them are symptoms of the FM, eh? I've been going to the clinic of Chinese medicine for a little over a month to be treated for the headaches with accupuncture, and the doctor was quite willing to adapt the treatment to include FM. I am feeling somewhat better, but apparently it will take more than just a month or two to rebalance what has been off-kilter for so many years. She gave me a powder for soaking my feet that draws the imputities out of my system. Just wish I could hear about something as simple as an Epsom salt bath for relieveing my headache pain the way it apparently relieves body pain.
