Smile A moment of compromise in our ADD/NT evening...

I walked into the kitchen tonight and noticed the yellow pages sitting in the middle of the counter. They were covered with crumbs and grease and had some exciting knife scratches all over the cover. What follows is the conversation (shouted from opposite ends of a staircase) that took place:

Me: Did you use the yellow pages as a cutting board?
Him: I’m not on trial here!
Me: Is that a yes?
Him: Get a warrant! I’m calling my lawyer!
Me: The next time you use the yellow pages as a cutting board, can you wipe off the cover when you’re done?
Him: That’s a reasonable request!

He couldn’t find the cutting board so he improvised. I would have just kept looking for the cutting board but whatever, his way worked out. Sometimes he drives me crazy but mostly I just find him really funny.

LOL - I would SO do this. (except the phone is nowhere near our kitchen) and especially leave them on the table covered in crumbs & grease. I would then wander back into the kitchen and wonder, why are the phone books in the middle of the table like that ??

LOL, great story!

Kudos to you for not taking life so seriously, and finding the humor in the situation. We ADDers are great for improvising, even when it would be much easier to just use the cutting board that is right in front of us, but that we've overlooked time and time again, lol.

Wow... but at least he didn't leave the knife there with the loaf next to it with the butter still out and the fridge open.

I'm impressed.

You know, he's never left the fridge door open. Cupboard doors though...that's a whole other story!

Re: A moment of compromise in our ADD/NT evening...

We probably have a dozen cutting boards of various sizes in our kitchen. My non-adhd husband would not have the patience to look for the one and only. My mother just recently commented on how our ten year old counter tops still look like new.

Yes, it's not an ADHD thing, it's a people thing. Teaching Food Safe to someone really helps.

That makes sense, he used to work in a kitchen. Never would have occurred to me to use the yellow pages in a food prep emergency though...well, unless I had ruined dinner somehow and needed to call for take out

Now that makes sense. A cook takes care of his/her knives as well.
