Third day on Ritalin...survival and observation

My doctor has given me Ritalin. I've started two days ago on a 10 mg pill every four hours, but that didn't work out fine. I noticed very soon that four hours is too long for me. At first I was happy because I got a bit sentimental (over a Star Trek episode....) and I hadn't cried for ages, so that came as a relief. But very soon I became so upset with myself and the world that it wasn't good at all anymore.
I noticed the beginnings of rebound after three hours and consulted my doctor. She told me to adjust to every three hours. I'm also wondering wether we shouldn't have started on a lower dose, like 5 mg every three hours.
The first night I couldn't sleep for hours and after that I had a rough night with very explicit dreams about sex (what's that all about??). Last night was better, but I woke up several times.
Anyway, I'm trying to find out what this drug does for me. At work I discovered that I completed two whole tasks within the first hour, where I usually wouldn't have been able to do more than organize (ahum) my desk, get coffee and chat with my colleagues as a start-up ritual.

So far it's been very different from the anti-depressives I've been taking for years. They made me more able not to break down emotionally, but not to accomplish tasks and organize my life.

Next tuesday I'll visit my doctor again and we'll talk about how to go on from then.

You're on the road to finding the right treatment for yourself - a few bumps can be expected! I'm sure it will work out. Most of the side effects will eventually go away after 4 or 5 weeks.
Best of luck,
Greg

Thanks Greg, it's good to hear that. I'm not feeling too good right now and light at the end of the tunnen is a pretty sight.

Well, I'm on 6 x 10 mg and 1 x 0.5 mg now. No more rebound but I'm speedy!
