Refilling script early

Hi all,

I was wanting to know if it was possible to have a script filled early?

I last had mine filled on the 11th of March.

Think it is too soon?

Thanks

Twinch

Re: Refilling script early

Im no expert but unless the dose of the med is increased you probably

have to wait...some ins give a window of 2 or 3 days early

good luck...take care

Re: Refilling script early

Hey guys,

-Ok so I turned my script in today 4/6/09. The last time that I had it filled was on 3/11/09.

-Well I call to see if it was ready because I was expecting it to not be available to pick up until Saturday.

-It had been filled 5 days early. Does this sound strange? Do you think it might have something to do with the generic XR?

-I told the pharmacist that I would like to stick with the name brand because I do not trust generic drugs right when they come out on the market. I am thinking that the adderall XR was filled 5 days early because the insurance/pharmaceutical companies still wanted to make that money off the name brand rather than making less money off of the generic version.

I don't know, but I have my XR now.

Thanks

Twinch

In my experience, if the date written on your prescription has passed, then you can get it filled. I've never had a problem getting two scripts filled within 2 weeks of each other, even if it's the same medication or the same dose. My doc just writes the date on the script, and as long as I don't bring it to the pharmacy before that date, I can get it filled.

Nope. For my Clonidine its a 14 day wait between filling prescriptions. For my Adderall, if its not a dated prescription (where you can only fill it after a certain date), you can fill it before the 30 day mark as well - same 14 day wait between fills.

I've filled my Adderall less than 30 days almost every time, not on purpose, but just because of how my appointments have worked out, and when I'm able to get to the pharmacy.

Your insurance is what really matters with filling them early, because if you fill them too early (not that it's illegal) its just a question of whether or not they will cover it.

Yea, I'm also pretty sure that the pharmacy will fill them any time you bring them in. Even if there was a 30 day waiting period, couldn't you just go to another pharmacy? Besides the insurance companies, I don't think there is any national pharmacy prescription database (thats one of the issues with private healthcare).

The DEA keeps logs. But that's more so for monitoring the doctor's prescribing.

Its best that there isn't a national prescription database, because then you'd get so many new problems that come out of ignorance of the system.
