Different Treatment Options for ADD??
I recently got diagnosed with ADD and social anxiety. I am an orthopedic nurse and recently have had alot of problems concentrating at work/ home so I decided to go and get it checked out. Well after seeing a psychologist, I was diagnosed. I just recently started Adderall XR 15 mg last week and I love it and hate it. I cannot sleep, I have chest pain , and various other side effects though it does help me concentrate. While on the medication I have had patients complain that I am in too much of a hurry and always running it seems. Again this is another side effect, I want to stop taking the medicine due to the side effects however I am having a very hard time stopping it and its only been a week! I want to try other approaches such as diet and exercise. I do not like who I am on it or when I am trying to take it. Does anyone have any advice as to how to stop the medication and how to get over the side effects from discontinuing it. I know you are not suppose to stop it cold turkey but i have only been on it a week and at a very low dose. Also does anyone know any type of remedies to help my add that does not require taking a pill. All the research I have done always results in medication.

Re: Different Treatment Options for ADD??
First of all, Welcome to the FORUM
I'm on my 8th medication now. Adderall XR + reg Adderall worked for me for probably 2 yrs. I was taking 100 mg of Adderall a day, which made me sleepy. It defiinately worked, but the rebound effect got tougher & tougher. I als take Wellbutrin & Nortriptyline + Monopril for hbp I switched to Vyvanse 70 mg on 2/17/09. It's working well for me so far. tc mctavish23 (Robert) |
