Metadate or Adderall?
Hey, i just want to introduce myself before i start this thread; I've been taking 20MG of metadate daily & 40 MG on extreme days (like the ACTS) & I've been taking it for nearly 1 month now.
My Doc is giving me the option to switch from Metadate to Adderall. Now, im not sure if i should switch over. Metadate has recently been letting me down, and ive been finding it less of interest to pay attention. I heard from a friend that adderall is much more powerful. Now friends and members of this forum; is Adderall stronger than Metadate & would it be wise to switch from Meta to Adderall? |

Re: Metadate or Adderall?
Metadate is a long acting version of methylphenidate(ritalin).
Adderall is a quick acting version of a different stimulant(mixed amphetamine salts). I've heard people say that adderall is stronger than methylphenidate. I've also heard people say that methylphenidate feels 'harsher' than adderall. I've never used stimulants other than methylphenidate, and I don't know if one is officially 'stronger' than another, but people often have different experiences with them. Although standard quick acting methylphenidate works well for me, I tried Metadate a long time ago, and found it nearly useless. A different type of long acting methylphenidate, called Concerta, was much more effective for me, but not as effective as quick acting methylphenidate, and the available capsule sizes didn't allow me to get the exact right dose, so I went back to standard methylphenidate. I also found that both metadate and concerta felt like they worked ok for a few days, and then became much less effective. I think my anticipation/hopefulness may have accounted for this, as virtually every time I try something that ends up not working for me, it seems to at first(this was true of strattera, provigil, and phosphatidylserine). If Metadate isn't working for you, changing to something else makes sense to me. If your doctor is offering you a choice between adderall and metadate, and you know metadate is not working, why not give adderall a try? |
