How much adderall is too much?

Hello.

I thankfully have found your support site and was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information.

What is a dangerous level for Adderall XR? Is there an amount that you could take that would cause serious medical problems?

Has anyone had experience with taking more than the recommended amount prescribed?

I am desperately looking for some help/advice, so any that you can provide would be so appreciated.

My doctor said 30mg XR once a day is and should be the max. Well maybe 40mg, 2x20mg XR. I think that is the max or so he says.

It's very hard to say since everybody reacts differently to medication. If the ammount that your doctor has prescribed you doesn't feel like it's enough, communicate that to him or her. It's not a good idea to just experiment on your own though.

Many DR's will prescribe the smallest ammount then gradually have the patient increase the dosage to find the correct ammount.

My neurologist told me 30mg/day was max safe dose for normal adderal., but that was for the sake of formality. 20 mg only works for 3-4 hours for me, so I take it up to 3x daily, and he said that's okay as long as I don't experience any side effects.

Okay, I have a question that hopefully someone could assist me in answering...
What would happen if someone took 60mgs of Adderall, but pulled the capsules apart and took just what was inside, all at once. Someone who doesn't take Adderall.

Possibility of ODing?
What would happen?

I'm confused what you're trying to ask. Adderall.. capsules? You mean Adderall XR, and all the beads?

It's not the gelatin shell of the capsule that slowly dissolves and makes it extended release--the entire capsule is gone and the contents are free in the stomach after about twenty minutes. It would still work completely normally, but might have a slightly less onset of action than it one were to take the pill normally.

But yeah, breaking the pill and just taking the beads doesn't change the medication, in fact, if you were prescribed Adderall, you'd be aware of this since it says it on the insert page of the prescription: "may open capsule and sprinkle contents over apple sauce; eat apple sauce quickly without chewing."

60 mg of Adderall at once is still a lot, especially if you were not prescribed this medication. A typical dose of Adderall XR (the capsules) is 20 mg or 30 mg, and that's for people who legitimately need the medication. I'm sure you know how dangerous it is to abuse amphetamines, so please be careful.

i knew when it was too much when it made me agitated and anxious, instead of focused and calm....60mg/day is too much for me, 40mg is the sweet spot
