Approximate cost of Adderall XR

Hello people!

Looks like I'm going to pick up my Adderall XR Rx tomorrow.
Of course it looks like our insurance won't cover it, but I'm hoping someone here can give me an idea of what it may cost for a month's supply (not sure of the dosage yet) out of pocket.
I was put on it a while ago and if I remember correctly, it was very expensive (~$250/mo?), but maybe that was because it was fairly new. It was for that very reason that I had decided to try and deal with what I'd consider very severe ADD on my own.
If I can get a generic I will surely go that route, but the nurse I spoke with at my GP's office said that there still was none as far as she knew. I think she just wasn't aware of it. I keep hearing references to it here and other places.
If anyone can tell me what I can expect before I actually go to pick up the Rx, I'd appreciate it.
Anyways - looking forward to getting my life back on track!

Update - looks as if it's going to cost $148 for a month's supply of 10mg generic Adderall XR. Would be $242 for the same of the name brand. Not sure what dosage is going to be prescribed by the doc, but that's pretty high. Oh well. Guess we'll see.

My insurance pays $351.00 for 60 25mg. AdderallXRs.

Yeah I've tried Ritalin (this was years ago - granted) and it didn't do anything for me as I recall. Regular adderall helped but wore off pretty fast. I tried Dexedrine and that helped, but also wore off pretty fast too. The XR was the one that seemed to help the most, but it was (is still apparently) so expensive that I couldn't afford it. Then I decided to try and deal with ADD on my own. Not such good results and I let it go on way too long.

Just picked up the Rx and the doc wrote it for generic or name brand. I think there are places you can go to get help paying for it. I believe someone mentioned that sometimes the drug companies will set something up for you too.

Update - picked up my Rx for 10mg tabs of Adderall XR. Cost me $148 - no insurance

Going to start tomorrow morning.

Even with insurance, my adderall xr scrip still has a $20 copay, as opposed to zero copay for generics.

I can empathize with not having insurance, though, as I just recently got a plan after living through ages 18-23 without a single doctor visit, not a single one of my problems taken care of.

Finally - is this a one time shot or is it a full time discount every time you go?
The site doesn't say anything about the amount of times you can use it. Do you use it every time? Sorry if I sound pessimistic about it, but this seems too good to be true! No catch?

Heya Mo....the discount is good every time you go.....it does vary from medication to medication, with some at a small discount and others at a big discount. For instance, I was on generic Ultram 60tabs and I paid $22+ at Rite Aide.....I printed the discount card and used it on the refill and it was only $7.82. Even if it never worked for anything else, the $15 I saved was worth the effort....but the good news is it does work for most other meds.
