Anyone take Strattera AND Concerta?

Hello ADD Friends,

I was just wondering if anyone is taking a combination of Strattera AND Concerta (or strattera combined with a similar stimulant).

Would you mind sharing any side effects?

A while back I posted a thread about emotional issues with Strattera. Gregster hit it right on the head though when talking about dosage. I have started taking Strattera (40 mg instead of 80) at night before going to bed, then Concerta (two 36mg tablets) in the morning. Most of the day seems relatively okay, but between 12:00 and 2:00 my mind seems almost worse than before I started this medication. I also have that "tightness of chest" feeling where my mind seems so alert that I cannot concentrate!

Anyone out there have experiences while taking both drugs combined?

Thanks a bunch!

I just met an individual who is on both Concerta (full target dose) & Stattera (likewise on dosage) & says the combination is great.
They are able to focus & stated that they did not experience any annoying side effects!
I was impressed, as my experience with both Strattera & a stimulant (taken separately - not in combination) resulted in some insomnia, so I naturally assumed that sleepless nights would be the result of this combination.

I hope that your side effects will lessen over time.
You may have to adjust the dosage.
Give us an update when you can.
Good Luck!

My son (8 years old) takes Strattera with Adderall RX. He takes both of them at the same time in the early morning before school. It has been a wonderful combination for him and he has had no side effects from it at all and sleeps great at night.

When he was just on Concerta, I could give that to him at the "crack of dawn" and he would still be up all night.

I took 80mg Starttera for awhile and it made me so tired in the day that I switched to Concerta - I have IBS and the Concerta made it worse - both meds gave me good results though. Now I take 40mg Strattera at night, and Adderal in the AM. The combination is great for me. Far fewer side effects, and the good effects of both, but I think I need a noon dose of Adderal too.
