I need advice

I have been on Adderall for a while now. I had a doctor's appointment last night and what happend was I told him that I felt the Adderall dose was not doing so well. I take 20mg XR twice a day. It wears off for me around 12:30 pm. He said it should last eight-twelve hours however I have read at many websites that the drug does not last that long for many people.

So he started me on Strattera. I do research before I pop a pill down my throat and lo and behold I cone to find out that many people have severe side effects while on Strattera.

Actually I tried Strattera once before but I felt kinda spacey. I don't know if that was even the drug doing it to me. I know that it takes time to start seeing affects just like an SSRi since it is similar in nature.

I'm very afraid that I will get severe nausea like many people have reported. I do not want to vomit. I dislike regurgitating very much. When I have the flu I cannot stand to vomit; even if I have to.

So, what should I do? Any advice?

I work from 7 am - 3:30 pm. If I do not take any medication I will fall asleep due to my Lexapro 20mg once a day. It makes me very tired and fatigued. Much more than I like. Please help and advise.

FWIW, I have not had any problems with nausea or throwing up. I'm with you, can't stand to throw up!

I've been playing with the dosage of Strattera. I have just started and this is my first ever ADD drug. I started at 40 mg which I now believe was way too much for me. I went off of it for a week and started back on it yesterday at 20mg. I will ramp up to 40 later this week.

My understanding is you have to ramp up slowly so your body gets used to the drug. So far no real nasty side effects like I had when I started at 40mg.

They say if it makes you nauseous to take it on a full stomach. This is what I have been doing with no stomach issues at all.

I, too, am on Lexapro. I'd say give it a chance, I've heard it works very well for some and not at all for others. As was mentioned here on this forum with Strattera you either love it or you hate it. Ramp up slowly . . . don't start with 40 mg like the damn PI sheet says cuz you'll be setting yourself up for failure. Start with 25 for a few days first.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! There are plenty of people here who are on Strattera that seem to like it.

One advantage to Strattera is you don't have those rebounds because it stays in your system all day. Some people just take it once a day, others take it twice a day. All depends on your schedule and your body.

I think I'm in an Adderall crash at the moment. Yesterday I slept from 6PM until 10AM this morning. I hope this doesn't affect me tomorrow at work. Thanks for the advice and comments. I appreciate it.

FYI: not every med causes side effects with every person.

Sorry to hear of your Adderal crash. I used to get those when I stopped taking Ritalin (when I was on Ritalin).
