Strattera & Lexapro

Hey guys & gals,

Seems im not a manly man . I had to drop the 25mg start up due to sides effects. I have been off it for about 2 weeks now while we fight the anxiety. The doc is starting me on 18mg next week.

My question is this, I have been on a half dosage of lexapro and going up to a full dose (10mg) Wednesday. Its not doing squat for my anxiety. From what I have seen, most people seem to like it. Im looking for some light at the end of the tunnel here. Will it kick in at 10mg? I'm gonna have to use xanax for a few days cause im about to sling apart.

I know this is more of an anxiety post than an ADD but they are joined at the hip and this is the most active place I have seen.

Send me some love. Let me know if im "Normal" as wierd as that sounds.

Oh,,,btw the Strattera did work and im looking forward to going back on it next week, but Im a small guy and the start up was a bit much for me.

Thanks

"Edge"

Hey Edge!

Welcome! I take both Lexapro and Strattera. I, too, had problems starting on Strattera and had to go off for a week and then start at a lower dose. Huge difference in my opinion about this drug! I went from hating it to loving it. Have patience (and I know how hard that is for an ADD person!). It will be worth it.

As for the Lexapro - I love my Lexapro! Was on Celexa for quite awhile which didn't do a whole lot for my anxiety. However, since being on the Lexapro since January - I've only had to take a Xanax once since then! And that was because my dose of Strattera was too high and I needed something to calm me down.

I used to get very severe anger outbursts due to my anxiety and again, the only outburst I got since January was due to the 50 mg dosage of Strattera.

Give the Lexapro a chance. It takes a few weeks to feel the full effects, but I have no doubt it will help you!

Hey,

Seems week 2 was the break thru for the Lexapro. Went to the full dose Wednesday and things are alot better now.

It was touch and go for a day or two.

I go on 18 mg of Strattera next week. I hope that by starting on the Lexapro first, it will help the sides.

I didnt mind the fuzzy head as much as the feeling that I had a weight on my stomach and the loss of hunger pains. Im small enough.

Geeeeze, you would have thought I was trying to rob the place!!

Ever try to get samples of Strattera? He shoots,,,He scores! Maybe he was in a hurry to get to his next patient, but I left with a sample box (4 18mg/ 14 25mg).

Now that the anxiety monster is back in his cage, Im back on Strattera. I have my water cooled down. (for cotton mouth)

I hope my dog does not give up on me over the next few weeks.

I learned a VERY important lesson over the last few weeks with the Lexapro. You have to give this stuff time!

I found this post and it made for good reading. Since I am not a doctor, I cant vouch for anything in it, but it made sense to me.

I have found that its best for me to take mine about 2 hrs before bed. By that time the hot flashes have quit and it makes for some deep sleep. Yummy!
