Modavigil/Provigil it works for me?
I was diagnosed with ADD some twenty years ago when I was 15 (yes I am an old fart). I can honestly say that my life was saved by ritalin. I was heading down a very bad path. Thanks to ritalin I completed school with good grade and now have a reasonable career, at Uni and happy family.
Ritalin was the only treatment option when I was diagnosed. I was recently asked if my child had ADD would I allow them to be treated with Ritalin. My answer was only if all other altenative treatments were exhausted. Whilst Ritalin helped me I found as I got older it had some severe side effects especially with anxiety and deppression I beleive these were presentand the Ritalin made them far worse. 2 years ago I decided to stop ritalin. I was prescribed Zoloft for anxiety. Life was good but I wasnt doing anything. 6 Months ago I saw yet another specialist. I worked with him researching many alternatives as I refused to go on stimulants again. I have been on Modavigil, thats what is called in Australia I think is provigil in the states. Combined with the Zyloft it has been a revaltion. It doesnt have the impact of Ritalin and isnt intense. You dont zone out and feel or wired. So the concentration levels are not as intense but they are effective. I guess being older I have learnt ways to mange some of my ADD traits. The modavigil helps this by adding the motivation and a level of concentration. I now read incecently, I am back at Uni and my family are happy because I am not zoned in and out, intense or tied. I would really like to hear other peoples experiences and I hope to provide some feedback to my Doctor. Cheers |

Re: Modavigil/Provigil it works for me?
I have read the post above and admittedly I could be tired and simply to brain dead to get it. - Are you asking if others have learned to cope with their ADD better as they got older or if they have tried modavigi {provigil}?
