DaveHawk, what was your dosage? I found that, by itself, Strattera didn't do a lot for me other than make it easier to sleep and get up in the morning, and also, ironically, to cause me to be sleepy all day. I got a little effect out of the initial dose (I think it was 60 mg), but I'm wondering if that wasn't a placebo effect at work.

After 5 months on Strattera I'm still seeing things that are improving in my life. I have to use Adderall 20mg in the AM because using only the Strattera makes me very sleepy in the day. Then I take 40mg Strattera at night. This combination gives me a nice steady effect 24 hrs a day, and the longer I'm on it the better things seem to get. I've never been so productive, or happy in my life.

JAy, after 4 years now I am still learning more about myself than I did in the years past. For-instant, I take on much more than I can handle most of the time and use to get frustraited with 15 projects going at once, now I am organized and work jobs in a order that they come in. I take on projects I normaly wuld not have and I speek my mind about what I use to think I had knowledge of mainly because I conldn't focus long enough to carry a conversation for more than a few minites.

I've bene on 40mg for 6 weeks now. I noticed a difference within 2 weeks, but I'm curious about how much of that could be the placebo affect.... I was so excited to finally get strattera (it hasn't been in Canada that long)... so I'm just a little worried that I was a little too excited.

Thanks, Brian. I have been confused by very different reports by posters on the forums. Some people feel an immediate effect, while others state that Strattera is slow to kick in.

For me it seemed like it was weeks before the Strattera kicked in, and I had to go through a period of agitation/anxiety first. Recently we had our 9 year old foster/adoptive son put on Strattera, and it made a difference the very first week. He doesn't know what the med is supposed to do, so I don't think it's a placebo effect for him. I tried stopping Strattera once, and I felt awful - so I'm staying with it.

Like emwell, i'm waiting for results ;

I have been taking one 40mg capsule of Stattera each day for 12 days now and i'm going up to 80mg on Monday 29th August.

I have noticed i'm slightly calmer, but perhaps that's just a placebo effect?

Side-Effects are more noticeable, than any positive effects of Stattera ;
Heavy sweating...Dry Mouth...Anxiety...Tiredness...unable to sleep.

I will keep you updated with My progress? lol

Karen

Thanks for the input, everyone

Jay jay, I thought you were doing very well on the Strattera? At least that's what some of your previous posts have stated. Hope things are still going well.

For me, I'm about 8 days in, and I've yet to find anything solid I can characterize as improvement. I'm recording my progress on my blog, and I'll definately make sure to keep you all updated.

Let's see some more responses!

I am also on Strattera and Adderall XR. I was up to 60mg (take in the AM), but started to realize I became really tired about 3pm. I had some 40's so I am going to test out how I feel by just taking the 40's in the AM along with the Adderall XR 10mg in the morning.

The combination of Strattera and Adderall XR really seems to work. I tried to take only Strattera and found myself not able to find the right words during conversations and kind of aggitated/moody. I am trying to find the correct dosage, but trying to take only once in the AM. I think I might have to try and AM and PM dosing. Maybe a 40mg of Strattera and 10mg of Adderall XR in the AM and a 40mg of Strattera om the PM.

My daughter's been on Strattera for 8 weeks now and we've seen remarkable improvement. I started seeing subtle changes (mainly more patience) within the first few days. Within the first week a lot of the social anxiety was gone. I'm still hoping for more concentration/attention (which was her biggest problem to begin with). I'm going to give it another month or two to let her adjust to school and if it's still not there, we may add on a low dose of a stimulant.
