[View New Posts] Button

Technical question here...

I like to use the [View New Posts] Button but it doesn't seem to do a good job at marking threads as read. Maybe it'll only do that once an hour or something. It'd be nice if I could go back to that new posts search page, refresh & reduce the clutter as it's difficult to remember which ones I just read or find the next thing to look at with such a long list.

I've actually rebooted my computer to force this to happen.

Also, I think sometimes it's not real consistent about how it chooses to remove things from the list.

New posts do arrive promptly, just the old ones don't go away.

Thanks!

I believe It has something to do with how often your cookies are refreshed in your browser.

Sometimes, after I've read all the posts I want to, I will click on the "Mark All Forums Read" link at the top right of the main page.

Ah, "Mark All Forums Read" is a good tip.

Can you explain a bit more about the cookies. I took a php programming class so I might understand with just a tiny bit more explanation if you have some more clue. No need to explain in detail, just another hint if you have one.

I'm pretty certain I'm connecting with cookies enabled. I'm using Mozilla 1.7b on win2k.

BTW this forum software works really well. You've done an exceptional job of setting it up and all the moderators & administrators who help keep things straight.
