No, it makes no difference if you take it with food or on an empty stomach - it's equally effective either way

I agree with Gregster other than possible side affects. I always try to eat prior to taking ritalin but sometimes that isn't an option If I have an empty stomach, I will lower the dose slightely. I personally can take a larger dose (MG) after about 30 minutes after eating without getting shakes or anything where less would affect me more without eating.

That being said, if I eat and then take a pill right after, I still get good affects.

Good I was worried about that, didn't want to wait to eat up to hour after waking up, I usually get sick to my stomach when I am hungry first thing in the morning... could not figure out how I was going to fix that problem.

To me its if you are on a diet or not

Seriously, I take it when I eat as a habit (Doctor told me that I had a sensitive stomach to take my meds with food, also to prevent the meds from surpressing my appitite) I take three tablets a day one at each of my meals. Helps with remembering

Thanks, I have just went with taking the meds when I remember to take them, and not so much trying to hit a given time 3 times per day, I have been fortunate enough to remember 3 times a day... so happy with that.

Actually I think I might have taken extra pill twice now, because of poor memory, of forgetting that I did take it and not wanting to skip on in case.

Been feeling jittery though, don't know what to make of that.

I was on Ritalin SR and Rubifen (20mg and 40mg dose per day). If i took Rubifen by itself with/without food, i was fine. But throw any dose of ritalin in there, i had to eat first, then take meds, otherwise i'd get quite queasy and throw up. Or even just taking ritalin and other meds (like acne pills) made me very sick.

Hrm, the "instructions" from the pharm that came with my Ritalin tablets said to eat 30-45 minutes AFTER taking the meds, and that you should only take them with a meal or snack if you have trouble with queasiness or loss of appetite.

??

I've just been following the instructions and taking them 30-45 minutes before meals. I haven't had any trouble, but it's a really low dose so far, so maybe that'll have to change.
