Scored pills - can you split a 20mg pill 4 ways?

I may try the adderall again. But I have a question can you split a 20mg pill 4 ways? It is scored for 2 - 10mg... but what if I cut the 10 in half again and made 5mg? I wonder if anyone has tried this - or if I will end up crushing it into pieces.

I haven't done it. But what if you did crush it into a powder then divide the powder into 4 equal parts. Then mix the powder in a little juice and drink the juice?

I wouldn’t do the powder thing. You still want the pill to break down gradually, right? I have broken the pills before. As long as it’s not ER, SR or XL or some other timed release it should be okay to break it and just take a portion. Try a quarter of a pill once a day and build up to the whole pill.

Ahh, but is the time release caused by the breakdown of the pill or the absorption rate of the delivery agent used?

If it absorption rate that is controlled....powder makes no difference.

The pharmicist said I could buy a pill cutter to be sure that the pill was cut equally into fourths. I dont think I would want to take it with juice because citric acid prevents Adderall from working.

The acid in sodas can cause the Ritalin to be less effective and the caffeine can make the jitters bad with Ritalin.

Okay if you look at the 20mg pill you can see the line to cut it in half. Well there is also another shorter line by the 20. Well I cut it in fourths using the lines as a guide.
I took what should be 5mg instead of 20 and we will see what happens now. I guess If I am allergic it would not matter how much I took I would still have the same effects. I took the day off work to see what will happen.

I never would have thought about the acid in soda........
I was just thinking about caffeine.

I think I'll need to switch to Water Joe for a few days and see if the Ritalin works better.
