Unhappy Sweating from Meds?

I've been taking Celexa for depression for over 2 years now and (as far as I can remember) I've had excessive sweating problems since then.

If I go between my desk and the copier frequently at work, I'm SOAKED (it's maybe 10-15 feet away). And don't get me started on when I walk to lunch with my co-workers *arg*

My face and scalp are the worst offenders. My hair gets totally soaked when it starts.

I've heard that this is a side effect of the Celexa.

Anyone else have this problem, and maybe have any suggestions? (Aside from drop kicking the Celexa out the door

You might want to lay off caffeine for a while. That might be the cause.

I am aware that effexor has a side effect of sweating, I am interested in finding out if celexa also has the same. Gime time I will figure this one out lol

Effexor causes sweating too. I am drinking water and ice. No more coffee for me.

I wanted to bump this up because I just started taking Celexa (20mg 1x/day) last week and have noticed the same thing... I was a mess when I got to the train this morning, a ten minute walk for me, and that was after not having any caffeine for over 24 hours.

Kelly, have you found any way to deal with this? I really don't want to resort to carrying a hankerchief all the time to mop my forehead like my grandfather used to do!

Sweating on Adderall

I don't take Celexa, I take Adderall, and let me tell ya, I sweat a ton from it, when I get hot, i get very hot and sweat like crazy, and I do tend to sweat more on my face and the back of my neck. I don't think celexa is a stim. so I don't know why you would sweat from it. If I were you I guess I would try a new med.

how much adderall do you take. plus most people with ADD will suffer from anxiety as i am one who suffers from anxiety. It took me almost 2 yrs to find the right meds. i now take dex with xanax. i am very happy and have been for about a yr now. make sure you are drinking plenty of water. adderall and stimulants make you dehydrate causing you to get hot and then make you feel panic.

I have taken Effexor ER, Desipramine and am now on Cymbalta and I can so relate to the sweating. I have had it with many different drugs. I especially sweat on my face and head too. My hair will be dripping wet sometimes and it can be very embarassing at times.

I've read and heard that clonodine at the .2mg or the .3mg patch can help for the sweating problems.

I just started Effexor XR and my Adderall was bumped up to 40mg. Tuesday was my second day. Talk about sweating. I was dripping! After cooking and cleaning up last night I went to lie down in bed under the ceiling fan. I was miserable. I hope it will taper off some once I have taken it for awhile!

I've read in The Pill Book 11th Edition (an actual pill book), that clonodine is prescribed for sweating. This book lists all you need to know about medications (including most prescribed and medications side effects) It even tells you what to expect to feel like when starting and continuing a medication. I think this book is very helpful.
