First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

So Ill give you a run down of what I am taking

Wellbutrin:200mg x2: taken when I wake up and again around 3 or 4 This is taken for depression not for my ADD, Ive been taking it for over a year never noticed it help w/ADD. but I know it has stimulating affects so that makes me wonder.

Topamax: 50mg 2x a day taken same times as the Wellbutrin

Buspar: 5mg when I wake up and 10mg at the same time as the second dose of the Topamax and Wellbutrin, I just started this med 4 days ago.
The buspar is for my anxiety, it does help some however it gives me headaches, and insomnia which is why I take it earlier in the day hoping that will keep it from affecting my sleep so much, and I also wake up in the morning w/some nausea. Now I know it doesnt sound so good but I was hoping these side effects were temporary.

Adderall: 5mg just started today

Ok so I just took my first dose of Adderall (5mg) at noon, I do not notice anything, which isnt surprising. Then at 4:30 I take the Wellbutrin, Buspar, Topamax combo, yeah I lost track of time and took it a bit later than I should have. So around 6:00 or so I start to feel a bit weird, not exactly jittery but sorta buzzy, maybe a little light headed, just sort of off, I feel my heartbeating which makes me nervous, I get a headache and that pain behind the eyes, Ive felt that before, and then I feel sleepy like I want to take a nap, this nap feeling is not normal for me. I realize I havent eaten in awhile so I go and eat, and feel a little better.

It's Halloween so I take my son trick or treating, I notice the heartbeat thing passes, but sleepyness/yawning, and headache remains. I probably am a little bit dehydrated as well.

What's going on?

I think the buspar helps some, but if the nausea, headaches, insomnia do not go away it''s not worth it.
I take Topamax (it does not make me sleepy ever) for migraines so the last thing I need is a headache, I also take it for mood stabilzation (not bipolar), binge eating, impulsive behavior.
I am wondering if the Wellbutrin is causing me more of a restless energy than anything else.

I think my anxiety is probably due to my ADD, but it's hard to say since Ive never taken a stimulant before. This is just so confusing. I just think it's strange that I didnt have a reaction until 6pm and just 1.5 hours after I took that other med combo which really sounds like a stimulantive mix. I know it sounds strange that an antianxiety med could cause insomnia but it does, so does my Topamax, but most people take their topamax at night.

Re: First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

Anyone? Please?
Does it matter that the Adderall is a corepharma generic? I wouldnt think it would matter w/such a low dose.

I took the adderall at noon w/the rest of my medications that I always take at noon. I didnt notice anything from the addition of the adderall.
Then like I said I took my second dose of my usual meds, only the wellbutrin, topamax, buspar. Then at 6pm is when I had the reaction. Then around 1am I had felt sad and had to cry. I mean I didnt have a reason to feel sad, I just felt I had to cry, it was weird. I know the dr mentioned that something like that could happen and to call him but it just seemed odd.
I am sure me not eating and sleeping well are not helping the situation.
Im going to end up calling the doctor anyway, I was just hoping I wasnt going to end up being complicated, ugh.
I already, had to call him on Saturday because I lost my dosing instructions, I hate having to call a doctor on the weekend, I dont want to as my therapist said, "make him want to jump ship".

I know there are a lot of smart people out there.

sigh.

Re: First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

I did some searching, and I couldn't find any specific drug interactions between Adderall and any of your other medications-it seems as though Adderall is commonly prescribed and well tolerated with buspar, topamax, and wellbutrin.

However, I am of the understanding that taking Topamax can reduce the effectiveness of Adderall or other stimulant medications because they both affect dopamine, but in different ways. Someone else may be able to elaborate on this or correct me if I am wrong.

However, since you haven't had any weird effects from the other meds until you introduced Adderall, I would speculate that what you're experiencing is somehow related to Adderall.

5mg once a day is a pretty low dose, and it's possible that even though you didn't notice any beneficial effects, you did experience some sort of a "crash" when the medicine was no longer in your system.

If you felt the Adderall was working, a doctor might add another dose later in the day to delay the mood swings/fatigue, but if it didn't seem to help, that probably wouldn't be the appropriate course of action.

Adderall is often not well tolerated by people who have co-existing mood disorders because it can cause mood swings and irritability, even in people who are otherwise mentally sound.

You definitely should discuss things with your doctor-continue keeping a record of when you take the med(s) and what effects/side effects you experience and refer to this when you call or meet. Don't feel like you're burdening your doctor by relating your problems with the meds--that's what your doctor gets paid for.

Re: First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

I appreciate your response.

The 5mg was just a starting dose.

I am suppose to go up.

1st day 5mg

2nd day 10mg

3rd day 10mg

4th day 15 mg

5th day 15 mg

and so on until I feel my attention is good, up to 6 pills.

Ive only been on the buspar for 4 days, and it was giving me problems before I took the Adderall. The buspar was given to my by my OLD psychiatrist, my NEW psychiatrist that gave me the adderall I just saw on Friday.
I know sometimes there's a barrel affect, you are fine adding things and then you add one more thing and the barrel tips over, it doesnt always matter exactly what it was you added to the barrel, ie I couldve been on the Adderall first and then added the buspar and had the same effect. And someone could say, oh it must be the buspar when it actually was something else going on. or I am totally off lol. bleh.

It's not that I am defending me staying on the Adderall or disagreeing w/you, just that it always seems that that is the first conclusion, it must be the last medication you took. If addreall is not the medication for me, so be it, I am not going to stay on anything that is not good for my health. The whole thing seems strange. I just figured I wouldve noticed some sort of reaction sooner, and the fact that the buspar is so new and has been giving me not so great side effects to begin with.

I know someone on here gave some detailed info about buspar and mentioned that most people cant take adderall and buspar together because of the NE side effects, nausea, head aches, insomnia, sweating, and that it can be "overstimulating", I was like oh great that's awesome.

My boyfriend just think it could be that I didnt eat very much at all yesterday.

I know I shouldnt try and think about this stuff too much on my own, but I cant help it, the internet is a dangerous thing. It gets me into too much trouble.

Anyway, I know I cant get my medical advice from a forum. I just have to ask anyway.
I am going to call my doctor, there are no doubts about that. No matter what anyone says I will be calling him, so no worries. I was just hoping things would go smoothly for once.

I do appreciate your adivce and thank you for responding.

Corepharma seems to be the least favorite here.
Is it IR,XR,?

If XR,maybe you felt the effects of it wearing off?

Just guessing....

Re: First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

Nope it's IR.

I was just reading someone's first day after taking 20mg and she mentioned similar side effects, ie the headache, the kinda buzzy feeling, feeling tired, and being able to feel her heartbeat, of course she had positive effects. I had all of those feelings at around 6pm. In addition she also had anxiety and other side effects I didnt have, of course she had a much higher dose. No one seemed phased by her side effects. I know I shouldnt compare myself to someone else I just thought it was interesting.

If I had been asleep at 2:30am like I should have been I wouldnt have been crying. but I have insomnia issues and have had them for a long time, night owl should be my middle name, most medications just seem to make it more difficult. But since I took it at noon, if I was going to "crash" maybe 2:30am is about right? Im not going to pretend i have any what I am talking about lol.
Oh also I fell asleep much easier than I have in awhile, which was really nice! That was something I was not expecting, so it was a pleasant surprise.

My boyfriend who loves me dearly, told me not to jump to conclusions and it could be a number of things and to contact my doctor tomorrow. He would tell me to call my doctor immediately if he felt my health was in danger. I am keeping a medicine journal so my doctor knows exactly whats going on.

Re: First does of Adderall, also taking Buspar, Wellbutrin and Topamax

I called my doctor. He told me to stop the buspar and adderall until all the side effects/symptoms were gone and start over w/o the buspar.

I am sure this is only the beginning of the redo.

Something is not right w/the whole combo, what exactly I am not sure. And it's not my job to know, even though my brain tries very hard to figure out, I am stubborn, and when something is "wrong" or "lost" I am like a bull dog I dont let go. The only thing is this "problem" is not my keys, sunglasses, library book or whatever, but my brain doesnt seem to care.
It is not my burden to bear and I know that but it doesnt seem to matter. Perhaps it comes from a lifetime of losing so much crap all the time? I have lost my sanity, or never had it in the first place not sure which. lol
