Concerta released differently between pills?
I started I was switched from IR ritalin to Concerta in the summer and when I was on ritalin I took 15mg three times a day and then my psych switch me to concerta 18mg to start with which did nothing for me. I was titrated up to 54 mg and now my hands are shaking and I notice my lower lip is quivering when I open my mouth a bit with the 54. When i took three of the 18mg it worked totally fine and I could think clearly and all but it's only with this 54mg that I'm noticing this. The 36mg didn't really do much for me but that was when I took two 18mg to figure out my dose. I was wondering if it's really different taking three 18mg at once vs 54mg. And if I should bother trying to take the 36mg pill if the two 18mg didn't really do much for me.

Re: Concerta released differently between pills?
The only thing I know about concerta is that a person needs to drink a fair amount of water to help it release and disperse. I don't know this for sure, but when I heard that it made alot of sense.
Maybe you didn't drink quite enough water one of those times so it didn't release properly????just a thought. |

Re: Concerta released differently between pills?
Hey Just_peachy,
If you are shivering and shaking maybe the dose is too much? I took 15mg of Ritalin instant release twice a day no problem. Recently I changed to concerta 54mg as thats the equivalent but it felt way too strong. Now im going to be on 36mg so hopefully that works. Another thing you could ask your doctor about is the possibility of a 45mg concerta dose. That is one 18mg tablet + 27mg tablet = 45mg. Keep trying, we will eventually get there! ![]() |

Re: Concerta released differently between pills?
Thanks, but I'm not sure about the 45 but I know when I took two 18mg at the same time that didn't really do it for me but three definitely did. I know being dehydrated definitely exacerbates the shaking but I still get them even when I do drink and eat but the 54 is definitely working for me I can think clearly and all but the shaking is really bugging me it's mostly from my elbow to my hands and I can sometimes feel it in my neck too.
