Best cold medicine to take- on Adderall??

I'm new to the forum and have found some really helpful advice so far on the threads I've read, but I really need some advice/input on what cold/sinus medicine is the best to take with adderall. I was diagnosed with ADHD almost a year ago and have been on Adderall (generic, not XR) 40mg since June. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome which weakens my immune system and causes me to get sick ALOT. I have been battling this awful head cold which has now turned into chest congestion and a miserable cough that I just can't beat. I have been taking mucinex but that sometimes makes me feel flushed and lessens the effects of my adderall. I'm desparate to get rid of this cold without having to go to the doctor again- any suggestions or advice? Thanks so much!!

Cold medicines do not cure colds. They only suppress the symptoms. In some cases, they can increase the duration of the cold because you are not allowing the cold to run it's natural course. Your body responds to the symptoms such as nasal congestion and phlegm production. If you suppress these symptoms your body can't fight them.

Take two days off and REST! You are tired because your body is exhausted from fighting. It needs a break. Colds can very easily turn into pneumonia which can be deadly.

And quit taking cold medicines. There's a reason it says on the bottle to see a doctor if symptoms persist longer than seven days.

rest is good, but if you have chest congestion/cough, you might have an infection, and not just a cold virus. if that's the case, going to a doctor and getting some antibiotics might speed up the process a great deal.

adderall just isn't going to work as well when you're sick, regardless of whether you are taking other medications or not. no one can focus well when they feel terrible.
