is dexedrine and vyvanse same drug?

can someone tell me if dexedrine is the same drug as vyvanse? the dr told me that aderall was the same thing as vyvanse,but no,it is not.it affects me completly different than the vyvanse does.with vyvanse,i feel focused,motivated,and in control,and it keeps my appetite under control.with the adderall,it makes me very tired,eat everything in sight,then when it wears off,i feel very wide awake,so it works the opposite.ive been on adderall ir for the last few weeks,and i dont like it at all.i would like to go back on the vyvanse,and instead of the adderall booster at 3pm,have a dex booster instead.if its the same med,i think it will be the winning combination.so,can anyone tell me,are vyvanse and dexedrine the same med? besides one being time released,and the other imidiate released?also,has anyone here taken both vyvanse,and then tried dexedrine ir,or dexedrine spansules? are the effects the same??

Yes, both Dexedrine and vyvanse have the same active ingredient. Vyvanse is extended release version.

Some people can not feel a thing on vyvanse some say its ok.

Vyvanse is pushed heavily by the brand maker cause its still patented and mighty expensive so I won't be surprised if many docs recommend it.

I take both Vyvanse and Dextrostat (same as Dexedrine). It's the same "active" ingredient but it does affect me slightly differently.

Vyvanse is time-release and works very smoothly for me. I take Dex whenever I need an extra little something ... ex. during my period. It's fast, but also leaves my body quickly. For me it's similar to drinking 2 espressos. (I can take 1/4 tab of a 10mg pill).

Unless Manoa is obtaining old Shire stock, it's not Dextrostat.

Manoa: Would you please post a description of your d-AMP tabs (color, shape, pressed ID markings, etc.) so that we can confirm the manufacturer's identity?

Shire stopped producing Dextrostat, a while back -- possibly even as early as 2002 or 2003 -- one of a few manufacturers to discontinue their own d-AMP products in the U.S., Shire's decision became part of an eventual collective ceding of the entire U.S. generic d-AMP IR market to Barr (which was itself subsequently acquired by Israel-based Teva, the world's largest generic drug maker.)

I find it very hard to imagine that any wholesaling supplier would still have Dextrostat on their shelves -- and even if they did (or still do), the dated stock would be long expired anyway. Extremely unlikely -- but not an absolute, "proven-law-of-physics" impossibility.
