Adderall and painkillers?

Hello again,

I'm starting to get really sick with a cold and the headache and sore throat is killing me. I was wondering if it would be safe to take 800mg (doctor prescribed) Ibuprofen with adderall still in my system? I know that some pills can cause really bad effects, but my search on the internet brought mixed results. I have two different kinds of 800Mg ibuprofen, I don't know the difference between them honestly. One says "MFG Amneal" and the other says "MFG Amneal- Generic for MOTRIN 800MG". If any info is needed on the type of adderall I have its 20MG XR (Teva).

I really hope I get a response soon! I don't think I can sleep without taking a painkiller, and it's 4 AM so I'm getting desperate. I don't have any other sort of painkillers (besides tramadol, which I absolutely will not take while on adderall)... Gah, what should I do?

She doesn't give me very straight information. its always "well... It COULD do this but its unlikely, just try it out" I can't really afford to try something that could possibly screw up my life. Plus, the office doesn't allow anyone under 18 call for information and such. I didn't see any interactions for ibuprofen with adderall, but I'm still a bit concerned about taking it. I might just try to sleep without it and see what happens.

Plenty of people take ibuprofen with adderall. It has very few significant drug interactions. If you are in doubt, call a pharmacy and run it by a pharmacist. They can run a quick check and give you the go-ahead. I've done this before when I needed to know if I could take sudafed with Vyvanse--I figured the combination of two stimulating meds could be dangerous, but was assured that it was fine by my pharmacist. And didn't have any bad reactions.

I've taken ibuprofen many times with Concerta, Vyvanse, and Adderall without any problems.

u kiddin? get some vicodin/percocet and take your adderall and you couldnt be happier (just kidding), and ibuprofen with adderall is fine, just lower the dose of the adderall if you can.

I have taken vicodin before when I got my root canal. I hated that stuff. It made me feel happy, obviously, but I was wired all day long and I couldn't sit still for a few seconds.
I cant lower my adderall dose unfortunately, its XR capsules, but I actually haven't been able to take my ibuprofen, my cold has gotten so bad that I cant swallow a will that large (almost an inch long, centimeter wide and half a centimeter thick = ouch!)

And I know your kidding about the vicodin :P But I'm a pretty serious kid (I'm not really that young to be called a kid, but it sounded better, haha)

Shiro, Ibuprofen can be crushed safely and taken in water. I would not take it in juice as the acids present in most juice can mess with your Adderall. Ginger Ale would also be okay.

The taste will be nasty but rinsing your mouth right after taking it should take care of any after taste.

Never thought to ask about Ibuprofen interactions with Adderall. I take Adderall 25mg XR in a.m. and 5 or 10 IR in the afternoon. I frequently take 400 to 800 Ibuprofen at a time for arthritis and tendinitis in my knees and shoulders. 3 times a day or in evening when I go to bed. Getting old sucks.

I would have to say you are safe Greg, with your Ibuprophone. I take 5 200mg. extended release Morphine tablets and six 30mg. oxycodone tablets for chronic pain on top of my 50mg. of Adderall XR everyday with NO problems.

And it's always nice to be able to ask something here than wait for an appointment with my doctor. The pharmacist that I get my adderall from told me that I had to contact my doctor for information about drug reactions and side effects, and the only way to do that is making an appointment to see her.
So... You all rock!

And gnbeg, you should be fine. The other day I had 1600mg of ibuprofen (half of my max dosage) and had no bad effects with it, for me it actually helped me concentrate more! But, that may be because I wasn't concentrating on the cold problems

several years back i had a pretty bad cough/bhronchitis.The doctor gave me tussionex (hydrocdone syrup), it helped with the cough.. but the addies were innefective. no other negative side effects.
