Conserta didn't work - worth trying ritalin?
Hi all, I was on Conserta just recently and have just been switched to ADeral XR - the conserta did nothing for me, it just made me really tired and spacey - the ADderal seems to just be making me feel tense - I was on Ritalin SR about 10 years ago and it worked great but my Doc keeps saying things like "no one uses that anymore" and "It's the same as conserta" (clearly to me it is not the same - anyone else??)...so the aderal is making me feel crumby and doesn't seem to be helping, do you think it's worth trying the ritalin again? Maybe the make up of the pill is diffent or something? any thoughts or experiences you have had would help me alot - thank you!

Re: Conserta didn't work - worth trying ritalin?
I've never been on Concerta, but I have been on Adderall and hated it. I'm very happy with good old fashioned Ritalin. I have no idea why your doctor hesitates to prescribe it- it's been a first line treatment for ADHD for many years, with tons of research to back it up.
I hope he lets you give it a try- there's nothing to lose.

Re: Conserta didn't work - worth trying ritalin?
I know, that's what I'm thinking - I think I'm going to have to just ask him why - lol and ask that we give it a go b/c it did work before and this sure isn't - bleack I do not like how I'm feeling right now at all, and I sure don't feel focused that's for sure...!
Thanks for the response! |

Re: Conserta didn't work - worth trying ritalin?
Ritalin and Concerta are both Methylphenidate.
Concerta just releases slowly throughout the day. I believe Ritalin SR is timed release as well. Did you ever try increasing your dosage? If you took 20Mg SR and switched over to 18Mg of Concerta you might have just felt sluggish because you were getting less than you were used to. |

Re: Conserta didn't work - worth trying ritalin?
I think it's something in the way the slow release Adderal and conserta work (I wasn't on Ritlin before starting the conserta - it was like 10 years ago, so it isn't that) I think they don't release like they're suppose to, they seem to release all at once and then nothing - I didn't take anything today and I felt much much much better, but as soon as I Can talk to my doc I'll be asking for ritlin sr - if that doesn't work I guess I'll try the none slow release ones and take it from there - thanks for the responses!
