SSRI + Vyvanse Major Abdominal Pain?

Folks,

Long time searcher here, first time "New Thread" poster. I've been diagnosed with ADD since 94-95. I was on Ritalin for about 2 years and developed a fairly serious dependency and ended up going off of it. In 2005(ish) due to a new and much more demanding job, I went on Concerta. Since then I have been on Concerta, Ritalin (again), Adderall, Adderall XR, Wellbutrin. I am now on 50mg of Vyvanse with 5 or 10mg of IR Dex for the end of the day.

In the last several months my doc and I decided that maybe a Anti-depressant would be a good fit. So I went on Celexa. It worked really well except for the major stomach pain. So we swapped over to Lexapro and still had Stomach problems. I have now been switched to Prozac (starter dose of 10mgs) and I am starting to see the benefits of it, but again with the stomach pain. Generally speaking I am taking it on opposite ends of the day. Vyvanse (along with Synthroid for my thyroid disease and Allegra) in the morning before food. Then in the evening, right after eating.

I am getting a fair amount of nausea but the pain is awful. It is a constant dull ache similar to gas pain. It seems to be coming my gut rather than the stomach. It radiates into my back in the same spot. The strangest thing is that, generally speaking it goes away within 10 minutes (or so) of eating. But this is not hunger pain.

I see the benefits of the anti depressants (less anxiety, calmer, more rational and level headed, not as sensitive) and I am considering going off the vyvanse.

So I am just curious if anyone else has encountered this? I have read some stuff about Serotonin Syndrome and I worry that this may be happening to me.

Thoughts? Insight? Bueller?

Re: SSRI + Vyvanse Major Abdominal Pain?

I am right there with you. Last night it was so bad I barely ate at first until I noticed it was going away. I believe that it is the Vyvanse (since it is the only med I am on). It is probably in your gut because the med is digested in the lower intestine. Maybe some kind of sensitivity. I am not sure however if it goes away as I just started getting the pain about 2 days ago.
