Hey Everyone this will be my first post!
I was diagnosed with primarily inattentive ADD about a year ago and have been on Adderall which I have had a lot of luck with (after not having a very good response to ritalin). The last year my life has completely turned around, I am getting good grades in college, I'm taking on responsibilities and my friends and family members have all noticed a big change for the better!
In any event, my current psychiatrist is a two hour drive from where I now live (because I moved at the start of the school year). I feel bad about it but I finally set up an appointment with a university psychiatrist so I don't have to drive four hours for a 30 minute appointment every month. But now I find that I'm worrying about my new psychiatrist. I am worried that my diagnosis is going to be questioned and my treatment may be changed or stopped all together! I know that there are lots of kids who go into these university psychiatrists trying to get drugs to stay up all night and do their homework (part of the reason I worry about telling friends about my ADD because I don't want to even be in a situation where someone is asking me for drugs!).
I was wondering if any of you have been in situations like this or have switched psychiatrists and if so what happened and any advice is greatly appreciated!
Also just before you make this suggestion I have already filled out a release of information for my new psychiatrist to get all my treatment information from my previous psychiatrist.
Thanks!
