inscurance does not cover adderall what to do?
my doctor started me on 18 and then 27 mg concerta and i dont really feel anything when i take it. then he gave me adderall but my insurance does not cover it. how do i get my insurance company to cover the medication? adderall works very well for me but right now it is VERY expensive including the generic. i have Coventry insurance. they refuse to pre approve adderall. the doctor is going to try again to talk to the insurance company, but if it does not work what should i do?

See if your insurance will pay for dexamphetimine(I hope I spelled it right). That is pretty close to adderall.

What kind of insurance reject is the pharmacy getting when they try to run the prescription? Who is your insurance carrier? It may well be possible to get your doctor to call your insurance company and authorize the drug as medically necessary.

Easy, get the instant release version (about $40/month) instead of the extended release version (about $120/month). All he xr version does is release half immediately and half four hours later. You can save yourself a lot of cash by taking two pills instead of one and your doc shouldn't mind if he knows you have to pay out of pocket.

Search the internet for drug assistance programs. There is one I found called freemedicine.com. It helps the uninsured as well as those who need meds not covered by their insurance or have really high co-pays. I don't know much about it, but it might be worth a look. Good luck!
