On Adderall XR with no insurance... Who makes what?

I am on Adderall XR 20mg. Ok here's my problem... 3 months of battles to get a script from a free clinic doctor so NO I"M NOT CHANGING MY PRESCRIPTION... wasn't easy to get
Is Shire still making the Adderall XR? my previous pills were orange capsules. Well I don't know if they were generic or not and also who made them. If they were generic I am happy to keep recieving the same but I have to figure out the manufacturer. My script is a 90 day supply. Non-generic is $575 before tax, I am not going to the free clinic for the fun but because I have no insurance and also unemployed. I am really afraid to fill generic and have it not work, or fill brand name and pay so much. But I was also told Shire was making the generic as well. Who makes what? and who made mine? orange capsules and XR.
Please help, no idea what to do. If I fill it I am stuck with it for 90 days till the doctor will write for me again... I have tried every coupon and prescription discount but none touch the price.
Without my meds I'm a non-functioning mess...

Hi,welcome to the forums!

The left one is supposed to be Barr(TEVA now)

The right is supposed to be Shire.

I am just relaying what the websites say.
I have no idea if they changed colors,markings,etc.
Hopefully some of the gang will swing by and confirm or correct.

The whole Adderall XR thing is a mess.

Shire still makes it.
Teva(formerly Barr) has a deal with Shire,where Shire *supposedly* supplies Teva with the generics.

People then assume it is the same product.

We know the Teva IR formula is different.
Not positive if the XR is.

Ok so I was taking the Shire one. I have taken the other but had some side effects and didn't know my manufacturer had changed. I noticed I had excess sweating and heart palpitations. Seriously my heart was beating out of my chest. And I had a couple facial ticks. My boyfriend thought it was funny but I didn't...

Yikes...I just got Barr and haven't taken it until tom..great. On the upside it was very cheap!

Don't worry too much Green,it is liked by some.
The titration/slowly increasing doses will minimize that.

I just have a bug up my @ss because there are a million different stories and rumors and myths about Adderall XR,and the generics.

People keep claiming they are the same,but I think I know for sure now,with proof.

They are not the same.

They may,but probably not,have the same ratio of active ingredients.

They do not have the same inactive ingredients.

They do not have the same delivery system.

I definitely agree that the active are the same but inactive are different, also my doctor who i saw as soon as my problems started asked which i got and i didn't even know there was a different one. He said that the capsule may also be made out of a different material to either promote or decrease absorbtion. So thats why I freaked about which I had before that worked.
One may work for others while the other works for the others...
Each person reacts differently to each medication...
I went from one med to the 'same" med with a different manufacturer, i shouldn't need to titrate anything. i didn't miss a day of dosing.

Just curious...about how much does everyone pay for their Adderall XR? And have you had problems with insurance?
I had to make so many phone calls to my insurance company (CatalystRx) and it seemed everytime I called someone told me something different. Then I had to get a prior authorization (faxed) by my doctor and so it took about 10-12 days to sort everything out in the end. It was so frustrating I almost gave up.
Then when I finally got it, they say that the medication is a "brand-generic" so although my usual co-pay is about $6 for generic ($12 for brand-name), this medication is going to cost me $60. My pills are from BARR Pharmaceuticals. Is the Shire one better? I still don't quite understand what a "brand-generic" is and will it ever become just generic?

I pay $196 a month... no insurance. But I have a 90 day prescription so I have to get all 90 days or lose what I don't... $575...
finals next week so I gotta go get it... my grades have plummeted and I'm been having panic attacks in class and getting depressed. the house is a mess too.

I pay $153.00 for the generic Adderall XR 20 mg, but with a discount card I got from Family Dollar it brought it down to $133.00. I have no insurance!

Where do you get your prescription filled? Can you give me some more details on this discount card you are talking about?
