Concerta vs. Adderall?

I've been taking Adderall XR for 3 years now and I don't think it's working the way it should be. It worsens my stress and anxiety levels.

So my doctor said that Concerta would be a good option for me. It's good if you need to lose weight (I should do that) and it can also be used for anxiety.

I was on Concerta for 6 years of my life and I had to be taken off it because I lost a dangerous amount of weight while on it. Adderall actually makes me eat more than normal, which is not good. Plus, I'm still hyperactive on Adderall and it bothers my peers.

What can I expect from Concerta? My doctor wants me to try 54mg, which I think is a bit high. Is there really a difference between Concerta and Adderall? Please explain. Thanks

The neurologist I see told me that concerta and adderall are similar but they affect the body differently. A different type of stimulant (ingredients)

I was on adderall xr for 2 years and then couldn't take it anymore due to side effects. The concerta works differently so I won't have those same side effects.

54mg is 10mg 3 times daily . These numbers are meant to be used across the whole day. It's really screwed up dosing. It used to be the ir tablets were given and they would give me 20mg with 10mg and 5mg tablets to be taken 3 and 4 times daily . This was a specialist who saw many children and did so for years . Thats over 90-100mg for a 14 year old. That was my first rx directions and it worked fine. I just usually took around 40-45 mg if I really needed to focus well. These time released meds have really messed the dosing up. These are dosing schedules made and marketed for xr drugs ( meant to last all day) and they are directed at being approved for children . So the maxims for these meds are for children and marketed for a target audience for approval not for the needs of adults with adhd but for the needs of approval to target a niche. Don't believe everything you read.
