Anyone go from concerta to adderall?

If so how did you dosage size compare? My dr told me it would 1 for 1. I was taking 2 36's of concerta but 2 20's of adderall xr is doing me wonders! I can't imagine going any higher. Which is awesome because that is the whole reason I wanted to switch. I hated taking such a high dose and wanted to be able to take a small dose again!

Am I odd or did this happen to anyone else as well?

Re: Anyone go from concerta to adderall?

My doctor moved me from methylphenidate to adderall at a 1:1 ratio. Some suggest the ratio is actually 2:1. From my personal experience, it'd say it's somewhere between. Adderall definitely lasted longer than methylphenidate (IR vs IR) which is expected due to the great difference in half-life.

I'd say your experience is expected. You may find that if/when the Adderall doesn't feel as if it is enough, a switch to methylphenidate gives the increased effect you need. This is because, while there is a cross-tolerance to some degree, it isn't full.

Re: Anyone go from concerta to adderall?

I take Adderall XR & Concerta together three times a day. The combination works great and it helps me avoid tolerance. I have been doing this for about the last 10 or so years. I require a high dosage and it's not tolerance since I have always required a high dosage since I first started taking ADD/ADHD medication. There is a website at adultadd.info that talks about taking medication at a higher dosage. I have emailed the website owner and conversed with him several times about others who also require a higher dosage. I believe the he just prescribes one at a high dosage or the other. There are not too many doctors that do a combo. I have not tried adding Vyvanse, but might do so in the future. I would be interested in knowing if anyone else has done a combo of Vyvanse with either Adderall XR or Concerta. Please let me know.

Re: Anyone go from concerta to adderall?

My guess is that the ratio for adderall being stronger is really due to the half life. For example when you increase an adderall dose you get benefits and prolonged time for which it works , that doesn't happen with ritalin based meds. I am interested in switching over to adderall to see if it helps better.

Re: Anyone go from concerta to adderall?

Is concerta a ritalin based med? I thought all add meds with amphetamines with it's each induvidual tweak to make it different from the rest???
