Question ADD or not?

I think I have ADD. I have always had a terrible memory. I can't remember peoples names, I have many friends that I still don't know their names. I watch movies and forget what happened in them the next day. I lose my keys sometimes 2-3 times a day and I even leave them in the door. I have never been good at actually listening I just am really good at faking it. At school I take notes but I don't learn or concentrate so I never know what is going on when the teacher calls on me. I can't study days in advance for a test like my friends do because I will forget what I have learned. I cram study the night before and ususally do pretty well, but right after the test I can't remember one thing that was on it or remember how to do any of the actual problems. But don't get me wrong I am actually quite smart but I always feel like I'm faking it because I can't remember all of the knowledge. I have really bad mood swings. I can be the happiest girl and the next minute I can be so mean and I can't help it. It hurts my boyfriend when I get really mean and mad. My house is never clean because I can't get motivated to actually clean. I get really mad when I have to do dishes so I do them like once every 2 weeks. So I was wondering if this is normal of if I could have ADD. Please help

Hi and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you have a lot of ADD characteristics, so your next step is to see your doctor about who to see about getting an evaluation.

You will also find many helpful tips by searching through these forums.

Good luck!

Thank you for your advice. I'm very scared to go to seek help. I don't know what to expect or who to contact for diagnosis. Could somebody tell me what kind of doctor to go to and what to expect. Can they diagnosis it in one visit? Thanks for your help!

Smile: Yes they can likely diagnose it in one visit.....a GOOD psychiatrist who is well-versed in ADD can, anyway. Perhaps ask your primary care physician to refer you to someone....OR ask your school health plan to refer you....

Good luck....keep posting and let us know how it goes....

It sounds like you may, but not necessarily.
there's no reason to be scared of getting help. You can always leave if you don't feel comfortable with the person. And just think: you could find out why things are the way they are, AND tips on how to work at making them better
There's a book I liked called Women with ADD by Sari Solden. I cried reading it 'cause I felt much like you sound. It helped.
Good luck
