Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

I'm writing this thread because I want to see if there's a reoccuring connection regarding the six "types" of ADD vs. the Meyers Briggs Personality Test. I think that I'm a Ring of Fire, #6, and i'm positive that I'm an ENTP. Anyone else?

http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31774

1. Classic ADD - Inattentive, distractible, disorganized. Perhaps hyperactive, restless and impulsive.
2. Inattentive ADD - Inattentive, and disorganized.
3. Over-focused ADD - Trouble shifting attention, frequently stuck in loops of negative thoughts, obsessive, excessive worry, inflexible, oppositional and argumentative.
4. Temporal Lobe ADD - Inattentive and irritable, aggressive, dark thoughts, mood instability, very impulsive. May break rules, fight, be defiant, and very disobedient. Poor handwriting and trouble learning are common.
5. Limbic System ADD - Inattentive, chronic low-grade depression, negative, low energy, feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness.
6. Ring of Fire ADD - Inattentive, extremely distractible, angry, irritable, overly sensitive to the environment, hyperverbal, extremely oppositional, possible cyclic moodiness.

You can find the Meyers Briggs test online and stuff, I would do it no matter who you are, it's pretty interesting.

Re: Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

I am primarily Type-2 (inattentive), and my type is IST/FP, evenly split between thinking and feeling.

Re: Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

Started out in this life as a type #1, 'Classic ADD', transitioned into type #2, 'Inattentive ADD' and a case could be made today that I am a type #5, 'Limbic System ADD'.

Taking the Meyers - Briggs test I come out as a INTP -- "The Theorist".

I can be mistaken for an 'e' when provoked!

Re: Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

why would that be the case?

i frustrate myself all the time. it's maddening to repeatedly f*ck up in the same way. my biggest frustration is losing my train of thought in mid-sentence. it happens many times a day--even with medication.

sometimes it builds to a critical mass; usually i just move on as that's the easiest, and most 'natural', thing to do.

strange, I'm the exact opposite, although my medication doesn't exactly reflect my usual unmedicated personality.

I was just asking in terms of my self-assigned type of ADD vs. yours, since we both share -NTP, because moodiness and a bad temper is a huge issue of mine.

Technically combined, though introverted and not outwardly hyperactive, frequent low energy level.
Meyer-Briggs is INFP

Re: Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

I score differently on the Meyer Briggs depending on when I take it. I have been classified as an introvert and an extrovert, Intuitive and Judging, Thinking and feeling, I think my last one is always perceiving though. I think I was an EJFP when I was going to Preaching school and an INTP when I took it not too long ago.

I think you could make the case that I am Limbic system.

Wink Re: Myers Briggs vs. "Type" of ADD or ADHD

I don't really know where I'd be classified in Dr. Amen's system. Probably #1 (classic) with a little #3 (overfocused) mixed in now and then, depending on my mood.

Myers-Briggs type is E/INTP. I score right on the border of introvert/extrovert. During the winter I skew slightly introverted; but I tend to switch over to slightly extroverted during the summer. My "H" allows me to pass as an extrovert most of the time to the casual observer.
