Unhappy New user - lost my edge / humor

I'm on my third day of Strattera 15mg and feel ridiculously relaxed -- so much so that I don't laugh much at jokes or things that would usually make me crack up. I'm worried that co-workers think I'm too serious -- which isn't the case -- I feel very even keeled -- maybe too much so.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks in advance. -David

You might be OK and were just used to being super-silly before. Effexor has got me even keeled to the point I feel like it's an almost narcotic effect but my shrink says maybe I'm just so used to being anxious that feeling normal feels like I'm drunk. 40 years of tension in my body, it could indeed feel unfamiliar to relax. I don't feel like a zombie or anything and you sound like you actually feel fine, just shocked to feel different.

I agree with paulf. Off medication, I tend to be overly expressive, emotional and spontaneous...on medication, I tend to have a better control (my perspective) of my actions, emotions and have a better time focusing.

Relax David,

Based on my experience, it sounds like your body is getting used to the new stuff. Remember, your reprograming the hard drive kinda and you will have some changes.

Yes, people started asking me what was wrong because they were used to seeing me go 90 to nothing all the time. Look around, you will see lots of normal people on an even kneel

Dont sweat the not laughing at jokes and other small changes the first few days you start and the first few days you jump in dose. It was normal for me and after about 3 days I fell into the swing of things. But yes, you are slowing down Welcome to normal.

Once again, my experience is only for me, each is different and Im no Doctor

I was much the same way with the Dexedrine

Clarity of thought is what I call it when I take my meds.

It takes 12 to 13 minuets for the drug to start taking effect and lasts for about 5-6 hours.

I really enjoy the ability to turn on my brain to have " Clarity of Thought" but at first it was like the same reaction as smoking pot.

After the drug wore off I felt like I was really high when in reality it was just going back to what is normal to my brain.

I never ever dreamed that I would take drugs to get straight and then when it wears off get high for free. Grin

after a period of time I have become used to the two reality's and can come and go from one to the other as I so choose. (within the 6 hour time span of coarse)

I am doing a hypnosis therapy, simply to relax. After a session most of the noise in my head is gone, or is at least totaly visible and I am very relaxed and centered. The first time I did this, I thought something went completly wrong and I was scared senseless.

Still it feels like am on dope, in a way, after a session. But thats only because I am so not beeing used beeing me, so to say, and to not react to everything around you.

This is probably very different when you take meds, just what paulbf said ringed a bell in me.
