Recently I have come in contact with many different people over the internet who have dicussed the fact that they really need a local ADD support group. I know that Many members of ADD Forums have disussed wanting to join a group but not being able to find one.
I want to suggest that those of you who are in need of a local adult ADD support group contact ADDA - The Attention Deficit Disorder Association and let them know. ADDA is a non-for-profit group which focuses on the needs of Adults with AD/HD. ADDA's Contact info can be found at http://www.add.org/help/support.html

100 years ago back when Moses was on the mountian getting... I felt this overwhelming need for a loosely structured adult support group. Home computers were for the "upper class" libraries didn't have them... any way I started a support group called Distract. I was told by a friend whom I had met at a support group for parents of ADD children(it was fairly new) my idea wouldn't work. I felt I have been given a vision of divine nature. I got help from a man I had never meat, to hold the meating in a church that wasn't built yet, I had no experience, no clue, only a vision and a desire.
Strange things happen when I reach outside my self. We had our first "Distract" meating in the new church before the congregation had thier first service. The person that told me my vision would work came to me six months later wanting to intergrate our groups, Distract "made a dent" in the other groups membership. No compitation was intended. Inadverntly many adults were attending the parenting support group because there was no group for adults. To make this already long story short after talking amoung ourselves we as a group decided to intergrate with the other group, afterall they did have alot more recouces. Plus big adders do make little ones. Like I said this was long ago and I have long scense moved from that town. Went back to see younger sister graduate... ran into a lady who was there 100 years ago. Distract is still up and running. It is amazing what a little impulsitivity, pig headedness, and divine help can do for a person looking to help others like them selves. Don't have experience, neither did I...do now(lol) For those in smaller towns that might be an option. If I can do it anyone can, with a little help from a power outside ones self.(don't want to step of philosphical toes, faith is a whole nother forum) Tammy |

I must have posted it before ADDA redesigned their site. The direct link to their contact info is now http://www.add.org/contact/index.html The email address posted above is only for those people who want to list a current group.
