Can stimulants improve vision?
I'm new to the forum and quite new to stimulants.
My question: Do you feel that stimulant medication - Concerta in my case - improve your vision? I started medication two months ago. The first day I took my 36mg dose, I figured out that something was different - everything looked sharper, clearer, as if I had a new prescription for my glasses. It felt great. This happened to me repeatedly, but by no means always. I am now on 56mg, and it happened again, the first time I took the higher dose. Last week I went to get a new prescription for my glasses. Something that was due forever. The eye doctor tried to find a clinical evidence online for such a positive effect but said there was nothing. Moreover, despite my being on the medication, he pretty much said that my eyes suck, because of a problem with focus in my eyes, and that I will need bifocal glasses. Yet another focus problem. My doctors were surprised by my reporting of improved eyesight, and tried to attribute it to an overall psychological euphoria with the medication, rather than to 'real' change. However, I did hear from a leading researcher on ADHD that I am not the first to indicate improved vision due to medication. So, given my actual not great eyesight and doctors' skepticism, I am interested to know whether others have experienced something similar. |

Re: Can stimulants improve vision?
Stumulants affect blood pressure. The eyes are especially sensitive to blood pressure. This change could be causing a slight difference in the shape of your eyeball, affecting your vision. Maybe...?

Re: Can stimulants improve vision?
O my gosh, thank you! I don't mean to steal this thread. I just wanna mention that for a few years I was in screaming howling pain a lot. My eyeballs literally felt like they were being squeezed in vicegrips. Then I found out I had high blood pressure. I always thought the high blood pressure was from the intense pain..but I guess it was the opposite.

Re: Can stimulants improve vision?
they can help you focus on one thing at a time. That may feel like your vision improves.
