Strattera

HI all,


I just started Strattera yesterday. I have been taking 20mg. of ritalin/4 times a day for the past 6 years or so. I'm 24 right now and I decided to give it a try because I don't want to be on a stimulant all of my life. The only problem is, my psychiatrist said that he is keeping me on that dosage of ritalin, plus the 30mg. of celexa that I am already on, and 40mg. of Strattera to start for the first week. Does this sound like a lot of medication to you?? IT certainly does to me.
I woke up this morning feeling like I was in the twilight zone. This did not subside as the day went on. At work, I felt as if everything was happening in a dream, I still feel as if I am in a paranormal world even after more than 16 hours after I have taken the dose. I have also been nauseated, and have had a dry mouth all day. I am looking for some advice or imput on if this is normal or if anyone has had similar side-effects.

Hi Amanda...

You might want to check the post in this section of the forums on Strattera's side effects. What you've described is common to feel when you first start the med.

He may have you on both Ritalin and Strattera, at the same time, since it can take up to a month for the full benefits of Strattera to be felt. Nevertheless, you should keep in touch with him, should the side effects become too uncomfortable.
