While my musical tastes span across the spectrum (Classical to country to jazz to dance to rock) I have been listening to dance music over the past 9 months or so

I like old rock, soft rock, some rock..like Pink Floyd. And I love Enya or anything celtic.

I also enjoy nature music mixed with instrumental.

I deal with Heavy Metal, because I feel that Boogie should be allowed to enjoy her type as music as well..although I do sensor some of the cd's she can buy...especially if all they sing about is death and destruction. I'm just happy she doesn't listen to much rap...then I would have to draw the line and tell her to put her head phones on..

Anyone here ever listen to Trance music? It can be really calming if BLASTED way up loud. I'm talking #11 on a dial that only goes up to #10! Get It. Loud.

Also, a group called The Crystal Method (TCM), and Fatboy Slim (not at all like what his name suggests, believe me), and Prodigy. These groups' music will move your ADHD soul completely to the left, and back again to the right, but bring it up from behind when doing it to you!

I just love it, and love it loud. And be sure to turn the Bass dial up nicely too. I have a huge subwoofer on my system. Makes dog's howl three streets over!

Boogie and Spirit,

I sense some tension regarding the music choices. As a parent, I can appreciate wanting to shield my daughters tender ears from foul language or explicit swearing. However, most bands that use this in their lyrics usually offer the Parental Warning/Censored versions of their songs. It blocks out the bad words. I'm not too familiar with KORN's music, but if the problem is the language, then maybe the censored version will solve it.
Just a suggestion

Gotta let that child rock-n-roll!

It's not the language..for we know if she hasn't heard it in music she will hear it from other children, TV or chat.

It's because while she was listening to Korn Untouchables, she became manicky and became obsessive about it. But now we have it all figured out and she has agreed that when I feel she is starting to become obsessive and maniacky I get to take the cd for awhile.

BTW..Boogie is AD/HD, Bipolar, OCD, ODD and has Deep Depression. So I have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't become manic depressive. Her inviroment effects her quite alot.

As for letting her listen to music..I have never really kept her from her choice of music..although I do buy the sensored ones. I just have to watch how much she listens to it..and how she is acting at the time.

Besides I could be a mean parent..lmbo...and force her to listen to polka music..I'm sure my dad will loan me a few cd's. Lmbo

Thank you for pointing something out to me that I didnt fully understand. I have seen many members here with depression of different types. I have yet to fully understand that disorder. You have shown my an insight I never realised before, that a persons environment has a profound affect.

My way of looking at music is in a helpful way. It allows me to relax, to forget about anything thats troubling me. If I here even the first few lines to a song that reminds me of something negative, it does bring me down. Possibly the difference between me and someone with depression is that I can choose to turn those feelings off. But the other person isnt as easily able to do that? Am I on the right track with that idea Spirit?

I'm a trance fan as well. I also like house. More these days I've been listening to ambient and acid jazz. My favorite internet station is SomaFM's Groovesalad:
