Talking ESSENTIAL ORGANIZATION ITEMS FOR ADDer's

I am just starting down the road to discovery re; ADD, and was wondering what other people use to keep themselves organized. Including ways of thinking.

My methods include backpack, laptop, and writing on my hand. Oh, and my casio message alert watch. Anyone else got anything good to share?

hi aforceforgood im travelling right now so organization is very important and im on both pleasure (hopefully more pleasure than business ) and business trip so i really need to have it together. do you make lists? as things come up in your head that you know you need to do or remember, write them down immediaetely or you will forget. in fact, try and keep notepad close to you at all times. write on your hand? why? they sell notepads. yes i have laptop. good thing to have. at airport, they always ask when going through security do you have a laptop? its great. get lots of work done. backpack is great too. dont carry on your back if dont need to. when your old your back will thankyou. how about organizer/calendar. ONE. good friend who is in school carries an organizer/calendar and records all dates, deadlines and birthdays, etc whenever they come up. then further record your schedule in any technical device you use. alert watches are great. time you do this? time to do that. adders are notorious for faulty time management and missing times to do things esp taking meds.

ways of thinking. negative self-talk. delete it. dont allow any thoughts that tell you you are bad, dumb, stupid, or not good enough or not doing enough. only allow positive thoughts throughyour brain. in fact we should have an affirmations thread here. maybe i will start one when i return to boston.

okay who else?

Hi,
When I think about it, the more I try to be organized the more disorganized I become. Is that weird or what?

I agree, lists are important, however, following through on the tasks on the list is as important. Thats where I go wrong. LOL, I write many lists and never get to the tasks.

When i need to remember something important I either leave a voice message on my asnwering machine or send myself an e mail. Cause I check both routinely.

I need some ideas on organizing bills and tips on remembering when to pay my bills, lol, often I forget untill I get a disconection notice.

Okay, I'm a student...and what I see most students do here are: carry a backpack, have a student planner with course schedule on top, definitely a cellphone, a general notebook, a computer at home, 3 ring binder for each class they are taking with handouts put in those binders with tons of paper included for notetaking, tons of pencils, pens, highlighters, textbooks brought to class even if heavy. Date handouts as teacher gives out. Get to class early/on time. Sit near front. Tape record lectures. Eat breakfast. During exams sit as far away from everyone as possible.

All I can say is........BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING THE BATTERIES ON YOUR PDA!!!! I've lost everything twice, and will have a serious meltdown if it ever happens again! Consider yourselves warned!

I keep a desk top calendar next to my bed on the night table.
This way when I wake up in the morning. I know what day it is.
And that get's me thinking about what needs to be done that day.

I keep a regular calendar hung up inside the kitchen cabinet door.
I have all birthdays for the year on it.
And all my appointments and times on it.
I even have it written on there every month which day to give the dog her heart worm pill.

I keep a food shopping list in the kitchen when I'm running low on something it goes on the list. So that way I never run out of things.

And I use post it's to remind me of things I need to get done.
I stick to a rountine also.

All these things are easy to remember to do because they are habit for me.
I've been doing them for years now.
