Wellbutrin and Sleep

Anyone having problems with Wellbutrin and sleep?

I was also wondering about vivid dreams?

I am on 150 mgs of Wellbutrin XL. I have taken Wellbutrin SR 300 mgs in the past and don't recall this side effect. As you can tell it is 2:54am.

I am blessed I get 4 hours of sleep a night..........

I had very vivid and terrible nightmares on Wellbutrin. Woke up in a cold sweat on this med. Not for me.

Here's another thread that deals with Wellbutrin and effects: http://www.addforums.com/forums/show...lbutrin+dreams

What time of day do you take them???

My doctor advised me to take my 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL very first thing in the morning which I do, usually before 7 a.m. This is to avoid trouble sleeping at night.

When are you taking yours?

Ed

I do take it first thing in the morning, and I still sleep poorly.

I have found it best for me to take my 300mg of Wellbutrin XL right before I go to bed. I have found that I wake up more easily and feel like I have slept better than if I take it when I wake up. Maybe trying the same will help you...maybe not.

When I was first starting Wellbutrin XL, my doc and I agreed to up the dosage from 150 to 300 after 2 weeks.

Well, let's just say that starting the third or fourth day after I started at 300 mg, I could not sleep AT ALL. And, of course, I made the mistake of going to work on no sleep. I made it through the day but it was not fun.

Interestingly, as well, after 3 days at 150 mg, I had quit drinking caffeine. I noticed it on the 4th or 5th day. That good "side effect," fortunately, has stuck with me... my caffeine intake is no longer, as my doc would say "excessive." It now ranges from zero to "slightly more than recommended." :-)

Is there anyone who had new sleep disorders with Wellbutrin?I have enough sleep disorders for a tiny woman but now I can not stop moving constantly in my sleep now.I wonder what causes this one..

I tried taking it at night, after I got off work and before I went to bed, but I would keep forgetting. I would lay in bed thinking how I was going to take it, but not wanting to get up again. In the morning it was easier to remember. However, when I took it at night, I slept better. Not any longer, but the quality of sleep seemed better.

Since Wellbutrin has a long half life (36hrs or so), it may effect your sleep no matter what time you take it. Your brain may be able to adapt and your sleep may return to "normal" or not. Playing with the time of day you take it may help, or adding another drug (I take the anti-depressant "Remeron" and it's sleep inducing side effect profile has worked very much in my favour, as I tend to be an insomniac).
