Does medicaid pay for the brand name adderall

I ive had add since i was a child. I was award of the state at that time. I dont know if my insurence at the tie paid for it or not. well now im grown and my doctor is giving me adderall on the 23rd. I get SSI and have medicaid and would like to know if medicaid pays for the brand name adderall or will they give me a genric.

This is my first time on a forum

so i wouldnt get the brand name? is there a difference between the 2? and madicaid does pay for it?

This is not true. Ohio Medicaid will not pay for generic Adderall XR, only brand. They will also pay only for brand Depakote, and brand Pulmicort, and several other drugs brand only.

This is kind of a point that ****es me off, because my tax dollars are being spent on a more expensive product, but that's how Ohio Medicaid rolls.

I can't speak to Georgia Medicaid - every state is different.

Also, there is no brand Adderall IR anymore if I recall correctly. I've never seen it recently, at least.

You will not be able to get medicaid to pay for brand when there is generic.....they already don't have enough money to cover all who need coverage. I would be thankful you have coverage period...no offense

I don't think they are being wasted, plenty of people notice a huge difference between generic and brand.
I remember my pdoc telling me about certain generics (anti-depressants in this case) that are so bad that he thought his patients had actually stopped taking the prescription. Apparently, the pills were even visually malformed.
