Sean122 is on a distinguished road
Hello everyone!

Hey fellow ADDer's,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums. I've been somewhat tentative to post on these, mostly just reading a lot and trying to take what information applied. I'm currently in South Florida, Age 26, and I'd have to say that overall I've done pretty well managing the symptoms of ADHD. That's not to say I don't have a myriad of issues related to dealing with people in relationships. I've definitely have had my impulsive moments where I could of probably handled things different, but all in all, I feel like I've been blessed in having people in my life to support me in my efforts at combating a widely misunderstood disorder.

I will say this: I wouldn't change myself for the world. Speaking of the world, I believe that society actually needs people like us. So many times have I heard that people with ADD suffer with having difficulty completing the most inane tasks that most people do routinely. ADDer's think and come up with creative ideas that not many "non-ADD" folk could ever fathom. Sometimes I even wonder if this is so much as a disorder as just a genetically different way of thinking. It's a farce, because at times I do have my issues, but with passion, we can conquer anything.

I obviously don't want to have this "me vs the world" attitude, or that I'm anything better than any of you - we're without a doubt on the same boat. But there are so many ways to combat this thing, from exercise (it's a must), to actual brain exercises (I'm a master of sudoku), and a pyschiatrist who treats you the person, not you the diagnosis, you can have an extremely fulfilling life, where people actually look up to you instead of consider you different. I certainly have not solved the riddle that is ADHD, but I've made it a point that instead of seeing it as a weakness, I look at it like a strength, and every day is a learning experiment.

Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions,

Best wishes,

Sean.
