The Covenant House is a day shelter where people can do laundry, use the telephone, seek jobs, read the newspaper, etc. They have an emergency assistance program to help eligible persons pay for food, electric bill, or rent. A single mothers' counseling program is offered to help women get off welfare, into private housing, and to continue education. They also maintain three residences for people with AIDS who are homeless. A variety of support groups are also provided.
