I think that I am a textbook case of high functioning adult-diagnosed ADHD. Never could concentrate well, but did well in school and college because it was intellectually easy stuff. Now, I need to put a handle on the problem in order to do the work (I am a programmer) and complete projects on time. It's a hard thing to do when often being spaced out and getting nothing done for several days in a row...
So, I was wondering, if I show up in psychiatrist's office tomorrow, how long... [Read More]

Another Good Mood - Ruined |

Dammit! I was really on a roll, getting a grip on my sleep issues, feeling better, and in a great mood for a week or so. Even small things that went wrong were no big deal to me, an awesome feeling. I was really happy.
However, there is an frustration that has been building over many years of living with ADD, most undiagnosed, and it seems like I don't handle the big frustrations well.

After supplementing myself, I've noticed that the people I used to hang out with (which I suspect have ADD as well) start to go unnoticed and I no longer have this strong connection/craving to be with. I still understand how they feel, and why they react, so I never forget them and i still talk and try to help them, but I notice they do not get a lot of hints so talking to them is becoming difficult when with other "normal" people. My mother may have ADD and trying to convince her to do... [Read More]

Hi everyone,
First off, this forum is great! I'm new here and just reading posts makes me feel like I'm getting more feedback than I ever recieved from any doctor.
I need some help. I'm studying history at the university and i've been passing courses just like i did in highschool: barely attending classes and just study for a few days before exames. But now i keep failing one course which requires you to do alot of investigation, go out, basically be busy with the... [Read More]

Tips and Tricks |

I'm 31 and was recently diagnosed with ADHD-PI. Since the diagnosis, I have been trying to come up with little tricks to help deal with my weaknesses. My best idea so far is to hire a secretary, but unfortunately my budget rules out hiring someone, and my wife doesn't want the job.
The best one I've found is setting a bowl in my entranceway for my wallet and keys. Obviously, I often forget to use it, but I'm remembering more often, so I spend less time retracing my steps to... [Read More]
