Do the symptoms fade?
Mar 22, 2018 - 12:28 PM - by Urobouros
I'm still learning about the condition as I approach my first appt but am curious if treatment, either with meds or behavioral therapy, relieves the symptoms or just helps develop tools to manage them. I've known for a long time that I was easily distracted but didn't recognize other symptoms until I started researching. I frequently feel like I'm being attacked when criticized and I get very angry. My wife and I often fight about something I said being misinterpreted and sometimes I create... [Read More]

Has your ADD cost you money
Mar 21, 2018 - 12:53 AM - by Clayjar
I am just frustrated. Years ago, my wife took us to a Timeshare presentation where they gave us free hotel and small cruise in Florida if we take a timeshare presentation. So like a fool, I bought the timeshare on impulse.

I regret it ever since. Not only I paid $10K for it, I have to pay a yearly maintenance fee. So I have to plan my vacation ahead of time which causes me stress. This year, I kept procrastinating in calling them to book a vacation because it causes so much... [Read More]

If any of you have any idea what the CYP2D6 gene is, look it up if you have to; but it's making me metabolize stimulants insanely fast. I metabolize methylphenidates and amphetamines faster than 80-90% of the tested population. So, I could take a long-acting like Mydayis or Vyvanse and it would feel like a short-acting Adderall or Ritalin, at best. 70 mg of Vyvanse used to last me maybe 6 hours, on a good day. Now, I get maybe 3.5 hours of day of decent benefit, with maybe only 1-2 more... [Read More]

Innapropriate sexual language in teenager
Mar 19, 2018 - 10:23 AM - by Traceyj30
Hi. I’m new and would really appreciate any advice.

My son is 13, soon to be 14, and has ADHD. He’s also very immature for his age. Recently I’ve been getting a lot of phone calls from his school as he’s been using innapropriate sexual language towards girls in his classes. He’s always had problems with appropriate behaviour and boundaries but it just seems to be getting worse.

Has anyone ever been through anything like this and could offer some advice? Is this... [Read More]

ADHD and Braces - not eating
Mar 18, 2018 - 11:32 AM - by LadyLeaAZ
Wow I had not posted since 2014. Lots has happened since then.

Anywho, 11 (almost 12 yo) DD got braces last week. I didn't think she needed them but like everything else her father decided she did.

She already barely eats on the medication (which after 4 years has changed from concerta to adderall) but the braces are making it worse.

I looked at her, really looked at her, and all her bones are sticking out. Elbows, shoulder, ribs etc. She looks so... [Read More]
