Task management tool - gained unexpected perspective (very long)
Mar 01, 2017 - 2:42 PM - by WheresMyMind
I've become an ardent flag-waver for Toodledo. The tool can be kind of hard to understand - the purpose, not how to use it - if you haven't been exposed to David Allen's "Getting Things Done" aka GTD. He's a de-facto time management expert...I say de facto because the reality is that his own writing style is un-necessarily complicated and his 320 page book SHOULD have been 80 pages.

Basic stuff about GTD that makes it useful:

- The human brain can do all kinds of... [Read More]

noises bother me
Mar 01, 2017 - 2:01 PM - by wooddeb
I've just recently been diagnosed with ADD. Noises (chewing gum, clicking pens, clipping finger nails, loud talking) bother me. When I go out to a sporting event, church, etc, I almost immediately look around to see if anyone is chewing gum or making noises. At work I sit in a cubicle on a very busy hallway. It bothers me when people come by clicking their pens or talking loudly. I've tried using ear phones and listening to music, at work, but I'm in a job that involves being interrupted... [Read More]

Crossed senses?
Mar 01, 2017 - 12:34 PM - by Swissy
I have always been really sensitive to certain sounds. But recently I noticed that when certain sounds are too loud it feels like someone is shining a bright light in my face. ie- trying to listen to instructions from one person when many are speaking and suddenly someone turns on speakers that are blasting too loudly. It is enough to send me over the edge. I would almost yell out "shut up, this is all too bright!" before realizing my error. I have heard of senses being crossed such as... [Read More]

Head injuries
Feb 28, 2017 - 9:13 PM - by Fuzzy12
This has got nothing to do with adhd. I just need some reassurance that I haven't wrecked my little girl.

Little Fuzzling banged her head against the side of her cot. I made her sit up while playing with her but she isn't stable yet so she slowly slid to the side. She didn't fall from high or anything like that but there was quite a thud.

I don't know how I could let that happen or be so stupid to make her sit in the cot. I know I am an idiot (etc).

Vocalising
Feb 28, 2017 - 8:25 PM - by WillJones
I tend to vocalise a lot, I don't blurt things out but I grunt and groan when I get up and sigh and moan and grumble when I drop things or am irritated or whatever (not to mention the constant talking to myself, humming, singing, whistling and drumming on things). I've started to notice that other people don't seem to do it so much. Does anyone else find this? Do I just get more irritated than other people or is it ADD thing? I'm still pretty new to all this.I've always known I get bored easily... [Read More]
